Make Your Own Memory Box Part 1
August 11 at 3:00 pm EDT

In this workshop we will explore creating a memory box or a shadow box that reflects something of who you are. A memory box holds keepsakes that remind you of some time or place or person.
A shadow box showcases objects that have meaning for you or tell a story or embody an idea.
In a workshop we did at Longview at the end of last year, we explored telling your life story through your obituary. In this workshop, we want to continue that theme of telling your story but using objects that have meaning for you and/or that others associate with you.
I have been making shadow boxes for many years. After I wrote my own obituary, I decided to do a different box for each decade of my life inspired by my obituary. In our first session I will bring some shadow boxes and we’ll talk about what sort of materials to gather for our second session where you’ll put together your boxes and perhaps share some of the stories behind them.
